Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, Resigns

Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026, adding to the recent departures of political appointees from the state government.

Ogunwuyi communicated his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, in which he formally announced his intention to step down from the appointment with immediate effect.

In the letter, he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the Oyo State Government and contribute to the administration’s programmes and achievements.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour,” Ogunwuyi stated, acknowledging his experience working with the governor and other members of the administration.

His resignation comes amid reports of several political appointees leaving the Makinde administration over the past two months, making his departure a significant development in the state’s political landscape. However, the specific reasons for his resignation have not been established in the reports available.

Ogunwuyi has an extensive political background, having previously served as a member of both the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before becoming the governor’s Chief of Staff.

As Chief of Staff, he occupied a key position in the governor’s administration, coordinating official responsibilities and supporting the implementation of government priorities.

His departure raises questions about the potential implications for the administration’s internal coordination and political relationships as Oyo State moves towards the next electoral cycle.

Nevertheless, the circumstances surrounding his resignation remain unclear, and no official explanation beyond the contents of his resignation letter has been established in the reports reviewed.

Obaland Magazine will continue to monitor developments surrounding the resignation, any official response from the Oyo State Government, and the announcement of a possible successor.
