A confirmation searcher, Sodiq Oladebo, who was heading out from Osun State to Benin, Edo State, on Monday, blamed cops connected to the Osun State Police Order of blackmail to the tune of N20,000 along the Ilesa Interstate region of the state.

The incident occurred after the Sienna in which Oladebo and other passengers were traveling was stopped by police at an expressway checkpoint.

After that, the police searched their bags.
Talking with our reporter on Monday, Oladebo said the N20,000 was essential for the cash he was to use to buy an Interval Joint Registration Board structure to handle his induction into a college.

He stated, “We were going to Benin, Edo State, from Old Garage Park in Osun State.” The officers slowed down our vehicle. They checked the front passenger and later asked me to get out of the car to check my luggage.

They conducted a search but did not discover any evidence. He took my telephone from me, opened it yet saw as nothing implicating on it.

He called back and said he would take me to the station if IOn July 10, 2023, an immigration officer fatally shoots a protester in the Ogun community. paid 100,000 naira. My brother gave me the money to purchase the IJMB form because they had noticed N99,000 in my Palm Pay application.

He claims that the police officers demanded N20,000 after a series of arguments.

He went on to say, “I transferred the money to a Point-of-Sale operator. The officers called the location, and they allowed me to go.” Four officers were in a black Hilux van. They still hold my money.

In a conversation with our correspondent on Twitter on Sunday, Oladebo’s brother Suleman demanded a refund of the money, stating that the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had promised to contact him, but no one had.

A screen capture of the receipt of the exchange got by our reporter showed N20,000 moved to the Joy Venture at 11.34am on Saturday.

At the time this report was filed, Yemisi Opalola, the state police public relations officer, did not answer calls made to her phone number and had not responded to a text message sent to his phone number.

Adejobi directed our correspondent back to the Osun Police Command when contacted for a response. On July 10, 2023, an admissions seeker laments Osun policemen's extortion of N20,000.
