On friday, youths from four communities in Borno State’s Mafa and Jere Local Government Areas were killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.On June 23, 2023, traders count losses as a fire gutting the Ogun market.

Four of the young people were reportedly in Tamsu-Ngamdu, two in Baram-Karuwa, and one in Shuwari, all in Mafa LGA. One of the young people was killed in Muna, Jere LGA.

Sherif Goni, a Tamsu-Ngamdu resident, told reporters on Friday, “One of the youths, just about 16 who said he was spared by the killers to come and report the story, said those killed all had their hands tied at the back and shot.”

Babagana Zulum, the state governor, expressed condolences to the mourning communities on Friday and promised that the government would not be discouraged in its efforts to end the state’s insecurity.

“Government is refining strategies at combating insecurity to facilitate the undertaking of farming and other economic activities,” the group tells Tinubu. “On farming, Borno farmers beg military to recruit 185,000 youths as forest guards to fight insurgency.”

Zulum stated, “Farmers should also augment the efforts of the government and design their respective community strategies for fighting insecurity.”

He instructed security personnel to remain unaffected by the resurgence of terrorist activities, and all farmers were instructed to leave their farms by 5 p.m. and return by 6 a.m.

On June 15, approximately 15 farmers from Molai and nearby communities in the state’s Konduga LGA were killed by suspected insurgents.On June 23, 2023, Boko Haram kills eight young people in Borno
