In the manifesto the LP released a few days ago, Obi argued for hourly wages rather than the monthly ones that are already in place.
According to the LP leader, a worker who gets N1,000 per hour in a job can brag of no less than N4,000 in a day, which, depending on the nature of the employment, can make the person earns between N80,000 and N100,000.
“It is conditional on the specifics of the employment that would be offered. The manual laborer, for instance, does not accept less than N2,500 or N3,000 a day, which is still not okay as far as the reward system is concerned. Olorunfemi stated, “If you split N3,000 by six hours, you’ll be talking about N500 per hour.”
“So, when you compare it to what we have now, surely, you would be talking of somewhere between N500 and N1,000 per hour, depending on the sort of labor, and by day’s end, someone can effectively argue that he may make as much as N4,000. And if you double the N4,000 you earn every day by 20 or 25, you’ll have N80,000 or N100,000 at the end of the month.
To elaborate on his earlier statement, the LP leader said, “that is exactly where we are headed!” in reference to a new monthly minimum salary of “N80,000-N100,000.”
Olorunfemi stated that the current minimum salary of N30,000 does not reflect the realities of the sweat of the Nigerian workers and that the Labour Party will ensure the new wage structure is implemented if the party won the next year’s centralized elections.
Olorufemi continued, “You know the amount of oil that has been leaving this country under the guise of oil theft.” We’ve pinpointed the source of these problems. Even though they claim there is no money, we all know that some of it is hidden away in people’s homes or bathrooms.
