Obaland Magazine gathered from several reliable library sources that Nigerian born Dutch author Mercedes Monden recently authorized Romania Christian media house “Alfa Omega TV”  to translate her most translated work Fulfilling God’s Purpose for Your Life: Against All Odds” which landed her at Port Harcourt Book Festival in 2014. Reaching out to the original author of the book Mercedes Monden through her official Facebook page Mercedes Monden Ministry to have a brief chat with the clergywoman, below is the extract of Obaland Magazine interview with Apostle Mercedes Monden.

Obaland Magazine: Thanks for granting us your precious time. We would like to know your drive as a non fiction book author of several successful books?

Mercedes Monden: What an amazing question, well when I was growing up, I developed passion reading books written by Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka and watching the clergyman Oral Robert on televangelism , this legends inspired me to become a better author, Preacher and a believer.

Obaland Magazine: What is your relationship with Paula Michelle White-Cain ?

Mercedes Monden: Paula Michelle White-Cain is not only an Author and a Pastor but also a mentor to many clergymen and women including an author like me, she had contributed spiritually, physically and Morally to the growth of my work in Europe and United States, otherwise I wouldn’t have been known today. Ever since we became partners and sisters in Christ, we have been working together without problems, She has presented most of my books also to a broad audience in America and Europe.

Obaland Magazine:As a clergywoman, author of various successful books and also recipient of countless awards and honors including the APCN Humanitarian awards, nominee of Ferdinand Bordewijk Prize, what has this changed in your life?

Mercedes Monden: As you know, garnering honors, awards and nominations shows relevancy in any profession one is into. I am glad to receive a nomination from the Ferdinand Bordewijk Prize in 2014, my books have opened doors for me to many Book festivals in Italy and Nigeria. All this recognition has brought me to stardom and I have a chain of upcoming authors under my mentorship.

Obaland Magazine: We gathered that your work “Fulfilling God’s Purpose for Your Life: Against All Odds” will be translated in Romania language by a household name media house in Romania, Alfa Omega TV and that seems to be 33^rd time your book being translated in various languages worldwide, how did this collaboration happen?

Mercedes Monden: I will say it all happened by God’s wish, when you are consistent in your profession , opportunities like this occurs, i’m glad Alfa Omega TV

reached out to me and they are in charge of my books in Romanian language.

Obaland Magazine: Could you tell us about your early-life and education background?

Mercedes Monden: I was born 14-11-1974 in former Bendel State, now Edo State, into a royal family and sixth of ten siblings, I attended Federal Government Girls College, Benin City  and proceeded to Iyoba Girls Grammar School to continue my high institutions in the Netherlands, where I studied Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam where I finally got my BA (Bachelor’s degree)

Obaland Magazine: Are you married or single?

Mercedes Monden: “laughing softly” as a clergywoman and a good example to thousands of couples. I should play the lead in having a good home, before mentoring couples to achieve good manners, so I’m happily married to Pastor John Monden and we are blessed with two Children.

Obaland Magazine: Do you have anything more you want us to know more about or any message to the youths ?

Mercedes Monden: I would direct my message to parents precisely, dear parents always bring your children up in an educative manner and more in a practicing Christian way of life, this I have to say and may God bless Obaland Magazine for reaching out to me.
