Two Men Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment for Stealing Scaffolding Iron Poles

An Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos Island has sentenced two men, Isaac Michael, 24, and Shittu Sanni, 22, to six months imprisonment each for stealing scaffolding iron poles belonging to the Golden Tulip Hotel. The duo pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy, attempt to commit felony, and stealing.

The incident occurred on July 30, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m. at the Golden Tulip Hotel, located at No. 13B, Elegba Festival Drive, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island. According to the prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, the convicts and others who are still at large conspired to steal the scaffolding iron poles valued at N45,000 each. They arrived at the hotel in a mini-bus with plate number AAA 985 YK and began loading the poles without authorization from the hotel management.

Magistrate Gbajumo Ayoku handed down the jail term after the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges. The prosecutor presented the case, highlighting the convicts’ intention to cart away the iron poles and sell them for personal gain before being apprehended.

The court sentenced both Michael and Sanni to six months imprisonment each, serving as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar criminal activities. This judgment underscores the importance of protecting private property and upholding the law ¹.
