Naomi Osaka may not possess the charisma of Serena William or the charm of Maria Sharapova but the Japanese surely has the grip of the court.
She has the finesse, the energy, the prowess, the skills, and of course, the glamour. Winning naturally attracts the glamour in and of sports. Once you are winning everything falls in place.
The cameras will be on you. The fans behind you. The sponsors queueing in front of you. These will certainly spur you to greater heights.
Osaka has years before her. She has started well and could spin in more laurels. This is her second US Open victory and her third Grand Slam. It could only get better for this tennis star… especially as Serena is nearing her exit from the court.
Perhaps, once Serena hits her 24 Grand Slam she could bow out this, leaving the stage for Osaka to dominate. Osaka has shown clearly that she has the grace and guts to rule women’s tennis.
The world is patiently following Osaka believing that she could just step into the shoes of Serena to reign as the charismatic leader of the women’s game.
