RCCG Clears Air on Pastor Adeboye’s Political Position, Rejects Claims of Party Endorsement
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has issued a clarification regarding the political stance of its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, firmly denying reports and social media claims suggesting that he has endorsed any political party or candidate.
In a statement released by the church, RCCG emphasized that Pastor Adeboye remains non partisan and has consistently maintained a position of neutrality in Nigeria’s political landscape. The church urged members of the public, media organizations, and social media users to verify information through official RCCG communication channels before sharing or acting on unverified reports.
The clarification follows the circulation of messages and commentaries online that allegedly linked the respected cleric to political endorsements ahead of ongoing political activities in the country. RCCG stressed that neither Pastor Adeboye nor the church has authorized any individual or group to make political declarations on their behalf.
Church officials reiterated that RCCG’s primary mission remains spiritual development, national unity, and prayers for peace, progress, and good governance. While encouraging members to actively participate in civic responsibilities, including voter registration and lawful democratic processes, the church noted that it does not align itself with any political party.
The development highlights the growing challenge of misinformation and the increasing role of religious institutions in addressing false narratives circulated through digital platforms. Analysts note that prominent faith leaders often become subjects of political speculation due to their influence and large followers hip, making official clarifications crucial for maintaining public trust and institutional neutrality.
Pastor Adeboye, one of Africa’s most influential Christian leaders, has repeatedly called for peaceful coexistence, national development, and responsible leadership without publicly endorsing political candidates. RCCG’s latest statement reinforces its long-standing position of remaining focused on spiritual guidance while respecting the democratic choices of its members.
As Nigeria continues to navigate an evolving political environment, the church has encouraged citizens to seek accurate information from credible sources and avoid spreading unverified claims capable of misleading the public.
