Kuwait, Bahrain Activate Air Defences as Iranian Missile and Drone Attacks Escalate Across Gulf.
Kuwait and Bahrain have confirmed that their military and air defence systems are responding to Iranian aerial attacks, as air-raid sirens sounded across both Gulf nations amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions.
Kuwait’s military said its air defence forces were engaging hostile missile and drone attacks following what it described as Iranian aggression. Authorities urged residents to remain calm and comply with official safety instructions, while warning that explosions heard in some areas could be linked to interception operations.
In Bahrain, the country’s defence forces reported that its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks. The Interior Ministry also activated warning sirens and urged citizens and residents to move to safe locations.
The latest developments form part of a wider escalation involving Iran, the United States and several Gulf states. Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, while Kuwait is also home to important American military facilities, making both countries strategically significant amid the growing confrontation.
The attacks have heightened concerns over the potential expansion of the conflict across the Gulf and its possible implications for regional security, civilian safety, energy infrastructure and maritime activity around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Authorities in Kuwait and Bahrain have continued to urge the public to rely on official information and follow emergency directives as their forces respond to the reported aerial threats. The full extent of any damage or casualties was not immediately clear from the initial reports.
