“Two Lagos Firefighters Hospitalized After Electrical Surge Sparks Blaze in Ketu Ikosi Three Storey Building”
Two firefighters have been hospitalized after sustaining injuries while battling a fire that engulfed a three storey residential building in the Ketu Ikosi area of Lagos State.
The incident, according to reports, was triggered by an electrical surge, which caused the fire to spread through the residential structure. Firefighters and other emergency responders were deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
The two firefighters were injured during the firefighting operation and subsequently taken to hospital for medical attention. Further details on the nature of their injuries and their current condition were not immediately available at the time of reporting.
The incident once again highlights the risks faced by emergency responders in Lagos, where densely populated neighbourhoods and recurring electrical faults continue to pose significant fire safety challenges. Electrical surges and other power related faults have previously been linked to fires in residential and commercial properties across the state.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, while residents are urged to observe basic fire safety measures, including the use of appropriate electrical installations, regular inspection of wiring systems and prompt reporting of suspected electrical faults.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has repeatedly urged residents to take fire prevention seriously, particularly in densely populated areas where a fire can quickly threaten adjoining buildings.
